Aarhus University, School of Business and Social Sciences along with Studenterlauget are proud to present the Buddy Programme each year at semester start. The overall purpose of the Buddy Programme is to improve the mutual integration of the international degree students and the Danish students attending Aarhus BSS, as well as to create close relationships and introduce the international degree students to the true Aarhus Experience.
The programme provides each international degree student with a Buddy – a volunteer Aarhus BSS student. The purpose is then to give the local and the international students at Aarhus BSS an opportunity to grow friendly bonds through social events and parties arranged merely for the Buddies and the international degree students. The idea behind the programme is to ease the transition for the new international degree students when settling in Aarhus, and to ensure that they get the best possible start in Aarhus and at Aarhus BSS.
In 2012 Studenterlauget’s Buddy Programme won the Danish qualification round in the highly recognized Charlemagne’s Youth Prize 2012.
The European Charlemagne Youth Prize aims to encourage the development of European consciousness among young people, as well as their participation in European integration projects. The Prize is awarded to projects undertaken by young people that foster understanding, promote the development of a shared sense of European identity, and offer practical examples of Europeans living together as one community. The European Charlemagne Youth Prize is awarded jointly and annually by the European Parliament and the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen.
